The Elberton 12-County Fair will celebrate its 75th year of operation in 2008.  When all the planning is completed, it promises to be the most entertaining and exciting Fair ever.

This year's Fair will include many of the annual favorites.  Carnival Midway by Family Attractions, Demo Derby, Elberton Idol Contest, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, Nightly Stage Shows and much more still in the planning stage.

Everyone is invited to look for and submit pictures and memorabilia of previous fairs.  It is our intention to have one section of the Fair devoted to remembering and celebrating past fairs.

The Fair was started by I.V. Hulme in 1933 and we would invite anyone to share items representing the good times and the fun experiences they have had at the fair

The fair, scheduled for October 6-11, will be the "Event of the Year" in northeast Georgia, according to Dick Carl, Fair Manager.  Carl goes on to say that the fair management staff has been working during the past year to bring the best county fair ever to Elbert County and northeast Georgia.  The fair serves 10 northeast counties in Georgia as well as 2 counties in South Carolina

Exotic animals and cute farm animals will be presented by Sam's Path Petting Zoo.  You will enjoy close encounters with animals not seen every day, in a clean and safe environment.

More popular than ever, the Ultimate Elberton Idol Contest will take the Days Inn Entertainment Stage for the fifth year.  The contestants will audition on-air on the morning show on WSGC 92.1 for the right to perform during the preliminaries at the fair on Tuesday night, October 7.  Finals will be held on Saturday night, October 11th sponsored by  Elberton.Net.

Also at this year's fair will be the ever-popular Stoney Roberts Demolition Derby, scheduled for Thursday night, October 9.  Showtime is 7:30 p.m. for the car crunchers.  Local entries can call the fair office at (706) 283-3401 for entry forms.

The 10th annual Diaper Derby Baby crawling contest will be held on the Days Inn Entertainment Stage on Wednesday night, October 8th.  Savings bonds will be given by Northeast Georgia Bank.  To be eligible for the contest, babies must be younger then a year old and not yet walking.  Entry forms are available at the Little Moments Daycare Center, the Fair Office or at our website, Elbertonfair.com under Applications.

Fair goers are reminded that blue ribbons and some nice premium monies can be earned by exhibiting what they have grown, or raised during the past year.  Jellies, jams, crafts, art, and many other categories are detailed in the fair's Premium Book which is available at the fair office or by calling Claudia Pitts at 706-283-4972.

The Elberton 12- County Fair is seeking businesses, nonprofit organizations, and educational exhibitors who would like 35,000+ people to visit them during the week of October 6-11, 2008.  If you have any questions or need more information about what you can exhibit or sell, please call us at:
